San Sosti
The village of San Sosti develops on the top and slopes from the Pettoruto Mountain. Its territory, washed by the Asaron and Rose rivers, was attended by the Bronze Age Age (16th century BC) and, in correspondence with the Castle of Rock, which dominates the present inhabited area, also traces of an inhabited area of the Late Bronze (XI-X century BC). A place of worship of Greek archaic era is attested by the revelations at archaeological excavations of the Church of Carmine, in the present Sanctuary of Madonna del Pettoruto, one of the most famous and important places of worship in the region. In addition to the Castle, ancient Byzantine stronghold and the Shrine, the Fortified Byzantine Citadel is also worth visiting in Casalini area, which is largely preserved in good condition; the Church of Santa Caterina V.M., in an elevated position and Artemis Archaeological and Multimedia Museum. Not far from the town, the "Fra Giovanni" Waterfall and the Lungofiume, near which you can admire the industrial archeology ruins of the old Aqua Mill and the dismal Hydroelectric Power Station.
