Historical building

Palazzo Lopez

Via Volturno, San Giovanni in Fiore, (Cosenza)

The construction of the building dates back to the beginning of 1700. The plant, as it is presented today, is the result of a series of aggregations of different artifacts. The portal, surmounted by an all-round arch, encloses a particular keystone depicting the coat of arms of the ancient Lopez family. Inside large stairs lead to the second floor. The roof, supported by wooden beams, has cruise lines. The importance of the building is not related to its architectural features, as to the revolutionary motions of the mid-eighties, in particular to the affair of Bandiera brothers. That's why the building is often cited on books, magazines, newspapers, and tour guides. In fact, at Palazzo Lopez, Emilio Bandiera and Domenico Moro were deported after their capture, and they were detained for a few days here.
