Siti Palafittici Preistorici delle Alpi (Sito UNESCO)
Prehistoric Palafitticoli sites of Alpine arc are a series of 111 archaeological sites located in Alps or in immediate vicinity, between Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Slovenia. Since 2011, the settlements are included in UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. The excavations, conducted only in some of the sites, have allowed us to understand the life of Prehistoric era during Neolithic and Bronze Ages in Alpine Europe. In the Municipality of Peschiera del Garda are located two of these ancient sites, dated to Bronze Age: of the seven villages identified, the two most important are called Imboccatura del Mincio and Bacino Marinan, where they were found in abundance ceramic and metal materials. Peschiera gave its name to chronological period known as "Peschiera-Zeit".
