Mergellina is a Naples area by the sea, located in the Chiaia district, at the foot of the hill of Posillipo. The name comes from the term "mergoglino", waterfowl. Celebrated for centuries by painters and poets, Mergellina has been amended by the filled that have advanced the coastline in the second half of the nineteenth century, transforming the ancient Via and the fishing village in a road inside the marina, where the hydrofoils for the Gulf islands.
