In the 60s, the passion of Alfonso Piciocchi and specific knowledge of a group of geologists, naturalists and cavers from the University of Naples, which has enabled a number of prehistoric finds from the caves of Nardantuono, Castelcivita, Ausino and Capaccio were studied and in museums: in 1972, the first display cases were set up at the Angevin Castle. Since 1984, the Etnoprehistorical Museum is in Castel dell'Ovo.
