MUSEO FERROVIARIO NAZIONALE DI PIETRARSA
It is one of the largest railway museum in the world for both exhibition space (more than 36,000 square meters) for that variety, breadth and importance of heritage exposed. It was set up in the seventies in the complex that was born in 1840 on the initiative of Ferdinand II of Bourbon as Pietrarsa Yards, for the production of railway equipment, which is connected with the construction of the first section of the Italian railway connecting Naples and Portici. In the five pavilions that make up the complex you can see steam locomotives, electric locomotives, three-phase, direct current locomotives, diesel locomotives, trucks, railcars thermal, cars, model cars and models, artefacts from the workshop, various examples of railway equipment; There are also an extensive specialized library and several multifunctional rooms that host events, meetings and exhibitions.
