Chiesa di S. Maria del Popolo
Entering the medieval area from the "porta della Piazza", near a staircase, find the mother church, the Church of Santa Maria del Popolo, which was rebuilt between 1610 and 1700 where before there was the medieval church of S. Maria al Seggio. Inside, at the baptistery, we find a newsstand with the marble group of the People's Madonna and child, artwork of the Neapolitan school of the 15th century, made of white marble plaster. Of particular interest in the Mother Church are an oil painting on canvas of "visitation of Giovan Battista Lama" (l673 l748), an altar in Baroque style with polychrome marbles, the wooden choir behind the altar of 1700, the walnut pulpit of 1742, two confessionals of 1600 and two marble holy water and stone.
