The aragonese Castle is built on a Norman stronghold; is an example of military architecture of Calabria. When the defensive system was expanded, the Norman stronghold began to take on characteristics of the manor with an early restoration in 1287 by Ruggero di Sangineto. He became a true castle with the restructuring of 1490 by King Ferdinand of Aragon. With the Aragonese Centre underwent numerous changes including the renovation of the walls with opening doors. You can still see the ramparts and towers of medieval style. The Aragonese military architects increased the work of battlements and ogee Corbels to the towers and battlements.
