MART (Museo d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto)
The section of Trento Museum is housed in Civic Gallery. Mart was born in 1987 as an autonomous body of Province of Trento. In 2002 Mart opens to the public with a new office in Rovereto, designed by Mario Botta and Giulio Andreolli, who were inspired by classical models for the forms (Pantheon) and have paid special attention to technical solutions: the dome is radial steel and Plexiglas, with a "slice" missing; underneath is a square with a central fountain. The wall covering is yellow Vicenza stone. Mart's permanent collection includes over 15.000 works including paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures, with important groups in particular as regards the avant-gardes. Present many works by Giorgio Morandi, Giorgio De Chirico and Carlo Carrà.
