Sacro Monte di Ghiffa (Sito UNESCO)
Sacred Mount of Ghiffa is included in the group of Sacred Alpine Hills World Heritage Sites. Between the end of the sixteenth and the middle of the seventeenth century, a building plan was conceived for the enlargement of ancient oratory dedicated to Holy Trinity and the construction around it of a Sacred Mountain on the dense hill of woods with enchanting views of Lake Maggiore. Other constructive interventions took place between the mid-seventeenth and the following century. In its current state, Sacro Monte includes, in addition to the Sanctuary, three chapels dedicated to different biblical subjects and the elegant arcade of Via Crucis.
