Parco Massari

Where Corso Porta Mare, Ferrara

Parco Massari takes its name from homonymous sixteenth century palace and represents the city's park most frequented, with a large circular fountain near the main entrance and numerous pedestrian paths. The park was built in 1780 by the architect Luigi Bertelli for the marquis Camillo Bevilacqua. It was formerly equipped with seven imposing entrances, of which there are only two today: the main entrance on Corso Porta Mare and a second overlooking Ercole I d'Este Course; was also famous for the number of statues that decorated it in addition to the large amount of plants and shrubs. In the nineteenth century Massari counts acquired the palace and transformed the park into a typical English garden. At present, at the main entrance are three monumental Cedars of Lebanon.
