Biblioteca Comunale Ariostea (Palazzo Paradiso)
It is known mainly because inside there is located the tomb of Ludovico Ariosto and here was graduated Paracelsus. Palazzo Paradiso was built in 1391 as Este family Palace and was decorated with frescoes of court life. In the seventeenth century, following an intervention by Giovan Battista Aleotti, it was built Clock Tower and marble door and Palace assumed its present appearance. In 1753 Palace became seat of Civic Library, then named after Ludovico Ariosto. In 1801 it was moved inside monumental tomb of Ludovico Ariosto (by Aleotti, 1612). Inside there is also Anatomical Theater of the eighteenth century and an interesting Stairway of Honour in the same period. Library contains several volumes and manuscripts, incunabula, illuminated manuscripts, Ariosto's memorabilia. It contains about 650 different editions by Ariosto including some of his time.
