Signori Square, also known as Dante Square, is located in the historic center of Verona. It born in the Middle Ages, from the development of the Scala Palaces, and assume political, administrative and representation functions. The Square is framed by some monumental buildings, connected by arcades and loggias. In the mid-seventeenth century it was given by the mayor of Verona a fountain, then realized by Pietro Tedesco, though, enough to decorate a space so monumental, it was later demolished. In 1865, at the center of the Square it was erected a statue of Dante. The statue, built by Ugo Zannoni in Carrara marble, is supported by a pedestal and has a height of three meters. For several years, the Square is crossed by hundreds of young people and university students who have chosen it as a place to meet and socialize.
