Veronetta is a Verona's district, located on the left bank of Adige River in historical center. It represents the city's first residential core and houses the ruins of Roman Theater and Austrian fort known as Castel San Pietro, on the San Pietro's hill, which dominates the city. After the earthquake of 1117, new walls were erected, including the churches of St. Stefano, St. Giovanni in Valle and St. Maria in Organo. In the 16th century it was raised Bishop Gate, which still delimits the eastern part of the district. Today Veronetta is also home to the Verona University.
