Palace was built by Scala family. Since 1311 Cangrande I went to reside in the palace, which was rearranged several times over time. In the Palace they were accommodated many famous men, including prominent personalities such as Dante Alighieri, exiled from Florence, and Giotto. During Republic of Venice, Palace is home to important magistrates and the mayor office, from which it took its name. The lodge holds immense halls completely painted with scenes celebrating Scala dynasty, which demonstrates the great importance of the building.
