It is at north entrance of Syracuse, the road network Scala Greca, where it was probably placed ancient Exapilon Gate. Gate Scea is still clearly visible today: the gap is deeply carved into the rock and along access are visible deep ruts of wagon wheels, with a central small holes used to allow the horse or horses from slipping. Gate was part of the imposing defense system of Dionysian Walls.
