Val Gardena
Crowned by the mountain defined Gardena Dolomites, the valley is crossed by Rio Gardena and includes the towns of Ortisei, Santa Cristina in Val Gardena and Selva di Val Gardena with their villages. Native population is Ladin mother tongue, but the valley is officially trilingual: Italian, German and Ladin. Valley is known for ski tourism (175 km of slopes, 83 lifts and 115 km fondo) and are held several important international competitions, as well as stages of Alpine Ski World Cup. In recent years Saslong will be played a Super G and downhill. It is traditional wood craft: the carving of the stone pine activities developed in the seventeenth century in Ortisei and is still a leading sector of the valley. Val Gardena offers fans of the mountain several possibilities, including some of the most popular climbing routes in Dolomites: Tridentina, Schuster, delle Meisules, Sass Rigais, Piz Duleda and Sandro Pertini.
