Morterone (Lecco)
Morterone is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northeast of Milan and about 7 kilometres (4 mi) northeast of Lecco. For its population of 33 persons, it was considered the smallest of any comune (municipality) in Italy – in an area of 13.8 square kilometres (5.3 sq mi). The fact that few couples decided to become resident or have children produced the effect, but this record is now held by the comune (municipality) of Pedesina.
Morterone borders the following municipalities: Ballabio, Brumano, Cassina Valsassina, Cremeno, Lecco, Moggio, Vedeseta.
