Pinacoteca di Palazzo Grimaldi
Grimaldi Palace, of eighteenth-nineteenth century, with adjoining site of St. Christopher's Church, chapel of Grimaldi family, we meet along the main street and is, with 14 balconies on two floors, the finest example of neo-Renaissance-style building in Lower Modica. The third floor was added in the nineteenth century, but blends in with the rest, proposing a balcony almost identical to the second floor, where we note the presence of heraldic shields of the family. Palace is seat of Foundation Giovan Pietro Grimaldi, created by the physicist who was also Rector of University of Catania, and accommodates in its halls a Gallery full of paintings of the most famous artists of the second half of nineteenth century to the present day.
