Built in the second half of the nineteenth century, designed by Luigi Catalani with the collaboration of engineer Achille Marchi, it is the third public theater in the city. In 2009, the structure was severely damaged by the earthquake, resulting in damage to the facade and the collapse of the ceiling of the foyer and the front cornice. "Ridotto", reopened in December 2009, temporarily hosts the performances of Teatro Stabile d'Abruzzo.
