Loggia di Palazzo Balsamo
Where
Piazza Duomo, Brindisi
Balsamo Palace, dating from the fourteenth century, was to be a building much more complex than it appears today. Apparently it was the seat of the Angevin Mint, transferred when the property of the admiral Margarito was sold to the Franciscans to make their new convent (the Church of St. Paul the Hermit). The "Loggia" is, in reality, a balcony located above two pointed arches and supported by brackets richly carved with allegorical motifs.
