In 1928, on the occasion of the first centenary of the death of the poet Vincenzo Monti (1754-1828), the main representative of Italian Neoclassicism, was formed in his birthplace the first nucleus of the Museum, which opened its doors completely renovated in 1998, as owned by the City of Alfonsine. The house still retains some of its original furnishing and exposes numerous biographical evidence of the poet, including a Cardinal Gaisruk's manuscript, some first editions, copies of letters intertwined with Monti, Manzoni and Leopardi, diplomas and awards. Of particular merit a bust of the poet, by Cincinnato Baruzzi (1790-1878), Canova's pupil and autographs of the poet and his daughter Constanza. Monti House also houses the Visitor Center of the Natural Alfonsine Reserve, designed to illustrate the landscape of the lower Ravenna plain, with particular reference to the fauna and flora. A bird show, made up of more than two hundred pieces, is a rich and rare examples of the local birdlife.
