Quartiere San Pellegrino
St. Pilgrim's neighborhood in Viterbo is situated along the Via Francigena. The main axis consists of the St. Pilgrim's Via, with a central square where stands the small church of the same name. Keep towers and thirteenth-century buildings, which keep their Medieval appearance. Some buildings were destroyed during the struggle for power among the families of Viterbo, including the Gatti Palace, of which is only a small portion in Via Cardinal La Fontaine, while the Alessandri Palace was saved thanks to the intervention of Pope Innocent IV. Every year, in summer, the district is home to a fascinating historical re-enactment ("LUDIKA") that actively engages visitors.
