The Museum of Mineralogy and Petrology is part of the Department of Geosciences at the University of Trieste and pertains to the University Museum System SMATS. The Museum, built in 1949, exhibits about 1.500 samples of minerals and rocks from all over the world, ranked by thematic criteria, educational and informative intent. Two rooms are devoted to minerals and a rocks. Are visible, among others, minerals typical of the "Tre Venezie" and various forms found in the caves of the Karst. At the Museum of Mineralogy and Petrology of Trieste are attached classroom with audio-visual systems, a scientific laboratory, an archive, classrooms and a reading room.
