The Postal and Telegraphic Museum of Mitteleuropa is located in a wing of the historic Palazzo delle Poste in Trieste. The Museum, built in the late nineteenth century, shows the evolution of the postal service from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day, with particular regard to the period of the Austrian in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The exhibition is spread along the walls of rooms and is divided into several sections, identified as part of postal history: mail, exhibits, forms and documents from the time of Austria to modern times; telegraphy and telegraph equipment of various ages and types; cartography post, with vintage cards on the routes of mail; the army postal service, which presents the complete equipment of a post office to the field. At the center, an octagonal structure houses reproduces a post office in the end '800. A room, finally, is devoted to the collections of postal history and philately, which periodically alternate.
