The Museum Petrarch Piccolomineo maintains bibliographic and iconographic collection about the life and works of the fourteenth century writer, Petrarch and Enea Silvio Piccolomini, bishop of Trieste from 1447 to 1450, later became Pope Pius II (1405-1464). Donated to the city of Trieste by Count Domenico Rossetti de' Scander in 1842 to spread Italian culture and the knowledge of its history, the collection was increased with subsequent purchases and donations, and currently it's the fund Petrarch richer editions preserved in Italy. The Museum contains printed books, ancient manuscripts, incunabula (early printed books from the presses in the second half of the fifteenth century), archival documents, prints, drawings, paintings, miniatures, chalks, medals, etc. concerning the writer Aretino and Pope Pius II.
