Antiquarium e Acquedotto romano di Trieste

Where Via Donaggio 17, Trieste

The Antiquarium is housed in the place where between 1976 and 1977 were found the remains of the Roman aqueduct from the Val Rosandra, one of three that served the Roman city of Tergeste, dating from the first century AD. It retains a portion of the duct that originally ran underground, lined opus signinum that made him impervious. In the Antiquarium are visible segment of the channel and one of the five manholes on the vault of the pipeline, as well as the archaeological material found in the excavations. Upstream of the aqueduct were found the remains of a Roman villa.
