The founders of Savelli were the refugees of Carpanzano and Scigliano who in 1638, to escape violent earthquakes devastating their lands, took refuge in Verzino territories. New site was named Savelli in honor of noble Lady Carlotta Savelli, Paolo Savelli' daughter, Prince of Albano, who was particularly interested in the misfortune of the refugees. Immersed in a chestnut wood, at an altitude of more than 1400 meters, is the tourist village of Pino Grande, near which you can visit what is commonly called "Parco dei Daini".
