The Municipal Art Gallery, named after the great Castrovillari artist Andrea Alfano, was established in 1985 following a donation made by the founding members of the extinct Cultural Association "Sestium". The first core of the collection consisted of 70 paintings of the most famous contemporary masters, including Guttuso, Purificato, Fantuzzi, Alfano, Tato and Consolazione, and five sculptures. Over the years the Museum has been enriched by new donations, up to the current number of 236 works, including paintings and drawings and 23 sculptures.
