Ecomuseo del litorale romano (Polo di Maccarese)
The Maccarese Centre is dedicated to the history of the Roman countryside towards the sea and specifically to the events linked to the people’s work in reclaiming the territory and its agricultural use during the last two centuries. Documents, papers, images, photographs, films, models, objects and tools – mostly from family archives – are exhibited in the Centre. For the time being, material is organised along thematic itineraries covering anthropological peculiarities of the area. A specially fitted room continuously projects documentary films on the history of the Portuense-Aurelio territory. Among these, in particular, is a documentary on the history of the immigration that took place in the 1920s and 1930s to establish the Maccarese farming land, realised with first hand testimonies of the events and exclusive cinematographic archive materials.
