Mulino di Mezzo (antichi mulini idraulici)
The river Fullone and neighbouring streams have influenced this territory from time immemorial. The valley was probably first inhabited back in ancient times, as indicated by numerous archaeological artefacts which unfortunately are not always classified and catalogued. In any case there is mention of active water mills in documents dating back to Medieval times, which were donated in around the mid 11th century, to the Abbey of Matina by Duke Robert and his wife Sikelgaita. They were originally linked together by an ingenious system devised by the Cistercian monks. Today most of them are ruins, although the most famous one, which was still in use a few decades ago, the "Mulino di Mezzo", still stands intact.
