Luogo Santo

This small church was moved to its current location in the early 17th century after frequently flooding and bears witness to the ancient cult practised in the city and legate, according to tradition, of the martyrdom of the noble Roman lady Dominata and her sons Senator, Cassiodorus and Viator who were converted to the Christian faith by the apostle Mark. This fascinating story attracted none other than Duke Robert's attention, inspired by a devotional fervour which soon spread to the entire kingdom, consecrated by the Normans even in the prestigious mosaics of the Monreale Cathedral, in Sicily.
