In the fifteenth century, the source of the Nossa river provided the water needed for the functioning of four huge hydraulic breakers (magli) for the manufacture of iron and, later, for some fulling. The iron was brought to the hammers from the mines of the nearby mountains. The cultural association "Magli Nossa", supported by the city of Ponte Nossa, has founded the Museum with the aim to restore the entire area that is home to the pre-industrial structures and its old traditions.
