Casa Rossini

Where via Rossini, 34, Pesaro (Pesaro e Urbino)

The exhibition, housed in the building where Gioacchino Rossini was born on February 29, 1792, is the result of numerous donations. Consisting of four floors and a basement, made in stages between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. The core of the collection consists of the legacy of the great Parisian collector Alphonse Hubert Martel. The donation took place around the end of the '800, while the Museum was organized and open to the public, on February 29, 1904; on the same date the building was declared a national monument. The Museum is divided into two main sections: the ground floor which is entirely devoted to the interpreters of Rossini, and the upper floor which houses the prints depicting the artist, including a drawing of Gustave Doré (1831-1883), in 1869, representing Rossini on his deathbed.
