The plans are known for the cultivation of the lentils of Castelluccio and for "Fiorita", the flowering phenomenon that colors the plan between the end of May and the beginning of July: in this period especially poppies, cornflowers, daisies and lentils bloom. Piani di Castelluccio fall within the territory of Sibillini Mountains National Park, where the plateau forms the bottom of an ancient Apennine lake, now drained and known for its karst phenomena.
