Castrocucco Castle is located in Maratea, near the hamlet of the same name, suspended on a large ridge of rock. In 2005 it was recognized Site of Community Interest and National Monument. Most likely it was built in the ninth century, during the sixteenth century it was renovated and enlarged and its walls were modified to accommodate the guns. Abandoned in the seventeenth century, it is in a very poor state of preservation, however the access door, some angular bastions and sections of the walls are clearly recognizable. Near the castle there are the ruins of ancient village developed after the construction of Medieval fortress.
