Museo Archeologico Nazionale d'Abruzzo - Villa Frigerj

Where Via G. Costanzi, 3 (Villa Comunale), Chieti

The National Archaeological Museum of Abruzzo is headquartered in the nineteenth-century Neo-classical Palace of the Baron Ferrante Frigerj. The Museum presents an exhibition renewed on the ethno-territorial basis, highlighting the various ethnic groups of the Iron Age to the Middle Ages. The understanding of these peoples is proposed through the peculiarities of the territory of belonging and its transformations over time: the first floor shows the Vestini Transmontani, Cismontani, the Peligni, Marrucini and Carricini; the ground floor, since 2001, has been prepared the new "Hall of the Warrior of Capistrano", created by Mimmo Paladino to host the extraordinary sculpture of the sixth century BC. Still on the ground floor, but outside territorial patterns, are placed the Pansa Collections and Collection of Numismatics.
