Rocchetta di Piazza e Loggetta Venezia
Rocchetta di Piazza is a historic building in Cesena overlooking Piazza del Popolo. It is a brick curtain, over 20 meters high, with a walkway known as Loggetta Veneziana and a large tower, Nuti Tower. On the wall is the inscription that recalls the quote Dante made of Cesena in Canto XXVII of Hell and the coat of arms of Lorenzo Zane, pontifical governor at the time of construction. In 1466, by the will of Pope Paul II, the building was completed in the features we can observe today. Nuti Tower, of polygonal form, was built by the architect Matteo Nuti in collaboration with Angelo Bucci of Cesena. There is also the Zane coat of arms and an inscription that remembers the champion Gaetano Familume.
