Via San Giovanni Bosco, Cagliari
The gallery was not born as a refuge from war during the Second World War, but it is assumed to be part of a complex series of underground passages still exist, with similar size and characteristics of the excavation, distributed along the north side of the city, from the ramparts of Buoncammino to the area of the former street market in Pola Street, and were probably made by the Piedmontese, outside the walls, around 1700, for military purposes: perhaps as escape routes or countermine galleries.
