Pinacoteca Accademia Carrara
The Carrara Accademy is an Academy of Fine Arts with an attached Picture Gallery. Born thanks to Count Giacomo Carrara, patron and collector who in '700 gave a generous bequest to the city of Bergamo. Over the years, the Gallery has continued to increase its assets through acquisitions and donations: currently owns 1.800 paintings from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century, by artists such as Botticelli, Mantegna, Raffaello, Moroni, Tiepolo and Canaletto, spread over three floors and ten exhibition halls. The paintings are flanked by a collection of drawings and prints, bronzes, sculptures and porcelain, furniture, furnishings and medals. Since 1999, with the acquisition of the "Collection Spajani", permanent exhibition has been enriched by a section with contemporary artists such as Boccioni, Balla, Morandi, De Chirico, Kandinsky and Manzù. Since 2008, the Gallery is closed for renovations, is expected to reopen to the public in 2015.
