Area Archeologica dell’antica Aequum Tuticum
Despite the name, it appears that the earliest phase is attributable to Imperial age. The more representative emergence is a thermal building dating back to the first century AD, whose central room was decorated with a mosaic floor with black and white tiles. In the second half of the second century AD instead refer the horrea (warehouses) or tabernae (shops). In the rear, a large rectangular room indicates the presence of a villa with a fine polychrome mosaic floor. The continuity of population totaled at least until the mid-fourth century AD, when the town was hit by an earthquake. In late antiquity, it shows the name of St. Eleuterio. The Medieval settlement appears divided into blocks based around a courtyard with well. The study of the pottery class is assumed a living presence until the fourteenth century.
