Museum was created by combining previous collections of Archaeological Museum, opened in 1959 in former San Bernardino's Church, and Museum of Sacred Art, opened in 1952 in former chapel of Holy Cross Church. Museum exhibits heritage of XIII-XVIII centuries from territory of Asciano. It is set in Medieval building which, since the thirteenth century, belonged to noble Sienese Bandinelli family.
