MUSEO CIVICO DELL'ARTE E DELLA CIVILTÀ CONTADINA

Where PIAZZETTA QUATTRO NOVEMBRE, SNC, Andreis (Pordenone)

The Civic Museum was born in 1981 on the initiative of the City, thanks to the availability of the people who have lent their material. The exhibits are dated from the second half of the nineteenth to the early twentieth century. The first floor of the building, is home to antique clothing, including a layette (in black for girls); an old kitchen with fireplace and authentic items, and a flier with "fretola": a portable wooden chest used by peddlers containing material haberdashery. Andreis was renowned for working with bone made from the horns of a bull, a very old form of craft that became extinct in the mid-Fifties, which remain combs and snuffboxes. The Museum also offers testimony of the Easter "raganelle", or "craceles": tools formed by a wheel mounted on a pivot, around which is fixed a frame with a foil, the sound of which is substituted to those of the bells, linked to mourning at Easter, as recall for faithful. Another special feature are the wooden masks worn during Carnival, unique specimens. Part of the Museum, the Barba Anzal blacksmith's shop: a restored building, with all the tools of the trade.
