Ragogna

Ragogna, (Udine)

Ragogna is the westernmost part of Tagliamento's morenic amphitheater. The whole area is ecologically characterized by a wide variety of landscapes: in a small area you pass from the river to the plain to the lake and Mount Ragogna. During the First World War, Ragogna and its surrounding area became the scene of the battle of the same name with the retreat of Caporetto in 1917. Near the Tagliamento, on a rock spur, in one of the most picturesque and scenic spots of Ragogna, the remains of ancient St. Peter's Castle date back to the eleventh century.
