It is one of the main streets of the old town and plays an important role in the city, as it connects Duca Federico Square, and Republic Square. The Street corresponds, in part, at one extreme of the Cardo Maximus, as evidenced by a small mass of stone, the last remnant of Maia Gate. Until 1922, the Street was named after the doctor Francesco Puccinotti, naming maintained only a stretch, where there is a small sloping square, current Largo St. Crescentino (former Farina Square) with a monument to the patron Saint.
