This obelisk is one of the twelve original Egyptian obelisks in Italy. It consists of five blocks laid on top of red Aswan granite, dating back to Hophra or Apries (Twenty-sixth Dynasty, 558-568 BC). Probably it comes from the Temple of Isis, in Campus Martius in Rome, and arrived in Urbino in 1737, in celebration of Pope Clement XI.
