Chiesa di San Francesco d’Assisi e Cappella Santa Margherita

Also called Immaculate Conception's Church, or of St. Demetrius's Churc, is located in the place where in the Middle Ages was the St. Peter's Church in Ripas (1295), and was the site of the Conventual Franciscans's Monastery. The Church develops a single nave, with a large sacristy on the left side, while, on the other side, there is the St. Marguerite's Chapel, a rare example of Gothic architecture in the area. It retains traces in this style on the outer walls, in tufa blocks visible outside, and in the portal, surmounted by a carved frieze. The Chapel is covered cruise with frescoes evoking the life of the Saint. Inside, there was a burial noble fourteenth century with stylistic similarities with other sarcophagi of the Neapolitan noble, which may have belonged to Andrea Ruggero. On the main facade opens a 1700 granite doorway.
