Palazzo Vescovile - Museo Diocesano

Where Largo Duomo, Tropea (Vibo Valentia)

The Bishop's Palace has an irregular plant, which is developed around the inner courtyard, but his most significant element is the Swabian porch, built after the Cathedral, in the thirteenth century. Inside there are five marble statues depicting St. Clare ('600), the Apostles Peter and Paul (late' 500), St. Francis of Assisi ('600) and a Madonna of Graces from Baroque period. The Bishop's Palace houses inside the eighteenth-century Mons. Paù from Terlizzi's Chapel, built as a domestic shrine, which houses the Baroque altar with stucco and the original flooring. Since 2004, the Palace is home to the Diocesan Museum, with exhibitions of sacred art and the Treasury of the Diocese of Tropea, as well as archaeological finds ranging from Prehistory to the Middle Ages.
