Convento delle Clarisse

Where Largo Ruffa, Tropea (Vibo Valentia)

The current building was built on the previous system of the St. Clare's Monastery, in 1621, wanted by Ruggeri and Mumoli. The monastery included the church St. Clare's Church, incorporated in the rest of the building. Still it retains much of the lower floors and the original vaulted structures of the first plant. Of great interest are the portals, inside and outside the building. During the most recent renovations, which have totally changed its functional, they were found some frescoes of 1300, preserved in the Diocesan Museum, depicting a sequence of saints. Inside were placed valuable marble statues depicting St. Francis of Assisi, St. Clare and the Lady of Grace, now placed in the Swabian porch, in Largo Duomo.
