It is a technical "geodesic", donated to the city of Spoleto in 1967 by the author/inventor Richard Buckminster Fuller, on the occasion of the tenth edition of the "Festival of Two Worlds". Halfway between artwork and technical structure, it reproduces the crushed sphericity of the earth, and is formed by a combination of triangular prefabricated elements in metal, connected with nodal joints, arranged so as to steady itself alone. Placed in front of the Casina of Chestnut trees, a green area south of the city, is home of shows, conferences, recitals and art exhibitions.
